Responsible Land Use
It is important to us that we do everything that we can to mitigate the effects of our roadway designs and proposed site uses, protect the wetlands and propose an environmentally responsible plan.
We are using scientists, researchers and analysts to look at every inch of this project and how it will affect wetlands. We are working, and will continue to work with agencies on the local, state and federal level to ensure that all concerns are addressed and all requirements are being met (or exceeded).
By re-designing the interchange and shifting portions of the roadway design, we have successfully been able to reduce the impact on wetlands and on wetland buffers. The proposed site use plan is also much smaller than earlier plans, and has within it many improvements regarding environmental impacts.
Here are a few:
- Approximately 40% reduction in the impacts to the wetlands and the wetland buffers (a result of the revised roadway designs on the site).
- Creation of 20-acre public riverfront park (5,100 ft. along Merrimack River).
- Over 100 acres of proposed open space/conservation areas (including the riverfront park).
- This proposal retains the Hotel/Conference Center/Retail site, relocates it away from the riverbank.
- The proposed office park has been reduced in size to respect wetland areas and their buffers.
