Traffic Improvements
The first example of how our project has changed is our newly engineered traffic plan. We have studied existing traffic problems and expected traffic impacts. Our new plan includes a redesigned interchange at Sagamore Bridge. It allows direct access to and from the Industrial Park and direct access to and from the future Sagamore Crossing site.
We have been working closely with all state, local, and federal regulatory agencies to adapt our plans to meet current traffic needs and future traffic growth.
We welcome you to take a look at what we’ve designed. We’re sure you’ll immediately see the benefits and improvements. And please, don’t hesitate to contact us using the feedback form on this page should you have any questions.
Sagamore Bridge Road Interchange Concept
We understand that improving the current traffic situation and planning for future traffic around the Green Meadow site is important to the Hudson community. It’s a priority for us as well.
The above graphic shows a proposed traffic plan created by road engineers that will help alleviate current traffic in the area and create capacity for our proposed mixed-used commercial project. It’s important to note that the project will be designed within the capacity of the new road system.
The areas highlighted in green are the traffic improvements we are proposing. The most important upgrades are a new traffic interchange on Sagamore Bridge Road and a Connector Road that creates an alternative travel option running parallel to Lowell Road.
In addition to providing access to our future site, both the interchange and the Connector Road are designed to divert or pull traffic off of Lowell Road and other local roadways.
About the Interchange:
- Includes on and off ramps that connect directly to the nearby Industrial Park. This significantly reduces the number of cars and large trucks which must go through the busy Sagamore Bridge Road/Lowell Road intersection, and provides new travel options for the workers in the Industrial Park;
- It is estimated that, during peak traffic hours, the new interchange will divert up to 600 cars per hour directly onto Sagamore Bridge Road;
- Includes on and off ramps from both sides of Sagamore Bridge Road leading directly to the future site. These ramps allow traffic to leave and enter the future site without getting onto Lowell Road.
About the Connector Road:
- Creates a second road parallel with Lowell Road. This will help disperse the existing traffic away from the present Lowell Road corridor;
- It is estimated that, during peak traffic hours, the proposed Connector Road will divert up to 700 cars per hour away from River Road onto the new road, putting capacity back into the existing Lowell Road corridor and improving the operation of all of the existing signals;
- It will run south through the future site and will intersect River Road between Stuart Street and Philbrick Street/Chalifoux Road.
We anticipate that portions of this traffic plan may be altered as we meet with local and state officials, but we think it’s important that Hudson residents know that we are working hard to address traffic concerns.
We will continue to keep you informed.
Something to Consider…A new Connector Road through the proposed interchange concept will enable thousands of cars a day to go directly to River Road and not clog up Lowell Road. Imagine having 700 cars per hour not even coming onto Lowell Road. Imagine the benefit for Hudson residents traveling to Dracut Road and other locations. |
